The Way is about finding one’s path. I use the Taoist yin-yang symbol to look at the dualism I have met in search of my authentic path. Trying-failing, trying-succeeding, my light, my shadows, my joys, my sorrows—I’ve learned to view my journey as a “this-and” experience instead of “either-or.” If I look closely, even my brighter days carry a hint of sadness, and my sorrowful days hold some joy. And ironically, The Way unfolds when I stop looking for it.
I use elements like flowers, foliage, and a human face in the painting to show nature. Buildings and other geometric shapes express human-made things. The face, a natural biological thing, holds some geometric aspects, as the yin holds a bit of the yang. We do create ourselves to some degree.
This work comes ready to hang. The painting extends around the sides of the circular panel. It does not need a frame.
